    History re-enacted.
Well narrated documentary with historians and politicians also speaking about there knowledge of Oliver Cromwell. Dates & places of battles and other famous event’s in Cromwell’s life. Re enactments of battle scenes and other event’s in Cromwell’s life, from the very beginning’s right up to the very end of his life. Not a film made for the cinema, but a well documented history of one of the most controversial leaders of a country ever.5 stars for the truth & for the way it informs without the use of Hollywood style glamour.

  3. Downlong Tom

    Thin
A very basic and shallow introduction to Oliver Cromwell. His achievements are passed over in a perfunctory manner with very little credit being given for his visionary appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of man.

    Did he really ban christmas?
This is another simple intro slice of history and deals with a most interesting man and his times. Not degree stuff-none of this series pretends to be but good material and entertainment at the price and well worth having as are all this series.

    Oliver Cromwell. Traitor or Liberator?
Even today Oliver Cromwell remains a name burned into history. In his time he was a Titan; leaving England a vastly different country from the land into which he was born. This DVD attempts, in only 48 minutes; to take the viewer through the life and times of this political and military giant. It succeeds splendidly, with a clear synopsis covering all the major events of Cromwell’s life and times; the detail being fleshed out by commentary from numerous highly respected experts including Tony Benn MP. Should you wish for greater detail, other titles in this series include:- The English Civil War, Edgehill, Naseby, Newark 1643-1646, Marston Moor and Charles I. I consider this DVD exellent value for money, recommending both it and the series from which it comes to anyone who wishes to pick up the essentials of British, and to a large extent world history; without spending to much time or money doing it.History Makers – Oliver Cromwell [DVD]
